Dear
Polite One,
I
bought and shipped to the address of the bride a wedding gift –
expensive, $200+ – well before the wedding.
She called me stating that because it doesn't suit her style, she is
returning it for cash.
I'm
heartbroken and insulted as I thought I chose something special. I don't understand why she would even tell me. Now I don't want to attend the wedding but
have already RSVP'd that
I would.
What
should I DO?
Sleepless
Dear
Sleepless,
This
is part of a very disturbing trend of couples using their decision to marry as
an excuse to try to milk everyone they know for at least two gifts and
as much cash as possible—Great American Gift Grab. To be treated as you have, feel
free to skip further degradation.
Sincerely,
The
Polite One
