Dear
Polite One,
My
mother is hosting my shower for which I want to receive only cash gifts. We
are registered but have everything thing that we need, except spending money
for our honeymoon. How can we word it in
the invitations? We do not want it to sound
rude.
Thanks,

Dear
Needs Green,
Cash
is not an appropriate shower gift, as
these gifts are to be opened in front of the guests. It's part of the gift-giving shower
ritual. Plus, there is no way to ask guests
for honeymoon cash politely. Perhaps opt for a gift-less shower if
you don't need things.
If
no one knows about the shower yet, it is best to decline your mother's offer
to host. It is considered a social faux
pas for family to host.
Sincerely,
The
Polite One
